Case Processing Support Specialist


Case processing work is the quiet engine behind important public programs. In this role, you will help keep disability-related casework moving by maintaining accurate records, entering and updating information, supporting daily workflow, and assisting teams that serve Texans applying for federal benefits. The Team You Will Be Joining
You will support a state-administered program that works in partnership with the Social Security Administration to help process disability claims for Texans applying for federal benefits. This team reviews and manages sensitive case information, coordinates administrative workflows, maintains electronic records, and helps ensure claims-related processes move forward accurately and efficiently. The environment is highly structured, service-focused, and centered on confidentiality, consistency, and public service.
 
Major Duties
  • Provide routine administrative and technical program support to help maintain continuous workflow within the unit.
  • Answer, screen, route, and respond to phone calls, inquiries, and requests in a professional and timely manner.
  • Prepare, edit, review, and distribute reports, forms, correspondence, and other documents.
  • Maintain electronic records, databases, files, and software systems with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Input, update, and modify data in Social Security Administration software applications, including case processing systems.
  • Disseminate information to internal staff, agency partners, and members of the public as appropriate.
  • Assist with internal administrative support functions, project coordination, tracking, documentation, and follow-up.
  • Interpret and apply established rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Use standard office equipment, business software, and federal systems to complete daily assignments.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support unit and agency operations.
 
Qualified Candidates Will Bring
  • Experience with office practices, administrative procedures, records management, and routine clerical support.
  • Proficiency using standard office equipment, computer systems, databases, and common business software.
  • Strong data entry skills, with a focus on accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail.
  • Comfort learning and using case processing systems, records management platforms, or comparable electronic systems.
  • Clear and professional communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • A service-oriented approach when interacting with coworkers, supervisors, managers, agency partners, and the public.
  • Sound judgment when following procedures, handling confidential information, and prioritizing daily tasks.
  • The capacity to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in a consistent manner.
  • Strong organization skills, including the ability to manage routine assignments, meet deadlines, and keep work moving.
  • Professionalism, reliability, and the ability to work effectively in a fully onsite team environment.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain the required Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 security clearance.
 
Exciting Opportunity Details
  • Compensation: $22/hour
  • Length of Engagement: Through August 31, 2027, with the opportunity for longer-term extensions.
  • Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8am – 5pm 
  • Location: Fully onsite in South Austin, TX 78741
