About the Program

Local 405 offers a three-year apprenticeship program through our Training Center, combining hands-on job-site training with structured classroom instruction. Apprentices develop a specialized skill set in reinforcing concrete, rigging, machinery moving, and more — all taught by experienced, certified instructors.

Upon completing the program, graduates earn a nationally recognized credential and are fully equipped to work across some of the most demanding and rewarding construction projects in the region. The program also provides access to industry certifications including:

OSHA 30-Hour Safety Certification

Post-Tensioning Certification

Crane Signaling Certification

Welding Certification

What You'll Work On

As a Local 405 apprentice, you'll train in the core specialties that define our union, including:

Reinforcing concrete in buildings, bridges, and roadways using rebar, cables, and mesh

Rigging and machinery moving

Hoisting equipment operation and proper signaling techniques

Post-tensioning systems and precast erection

Requirements

How to Apply

Applications for the apprenticeship program are accepted periodically throughout the year at our union business office. When applications are open, they must be picked up in person at:

2433 Reed Street, Philadelphia, PA 19146

Monday – Friday | 6:00 AM – 12:00 Noon

When you come to pick up an application, please bring the following documentation:

Birth Certificate

Valid Driver's License

High School Diploma or GED
