The Arc Jefferson - St. Lawrence is one of 35 local Chapters of The Arc New York, the largest provider of supports and services for people intellectual and developmental disabilities in New York state. In addition to the programs The Arc Jefferson - St. Lawrence offers in Jefferson and St. Lawrence County, Chapters of The Arc New York collectively support more than 60,000 people with disabilities and their families in every county of the state, and employ more than 30,000 people in our shared mission to provide people with intellectual, developmental and other disabilities the ordinary and extraordinary opportunities of life.

Janitor
Qualifications - Experience in janitorial work preferred. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance. Must be capable of moving up and down stairs without difficulty. Must be capable of working on feet for extended periods of time. Must provide your own transportation to work. Must be able to identify SDS sheets and various chemical labels and markings. Must be willing to learn proper use of cleaning agents and usage of various supplies. Must be willing to learn proper maintenance and safety features of both light and heavy custodial equipment.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance – Authorized to work in the United States.
Summary/Objective - Perform general cleaning tasks and maintain work areas as assigned.
Essential Functions – Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Use high and low speed maintenance equipment as assigned.
Use carpet cleaning equipment as assigned.
Trash removal.
Sweep/mop/dust/vacuum as assigned.
Wet mop.
Perform restroom disinfectant and cleaning as assigned.
Perform floor stripping and waxing applications.
Wash windows.
Monitor use of equipment and report any malfunctions or problems to supervisor.
