Job Summary and Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY:

Utilizes phlebotomy skills for collection of patient samples. Fulfills departmental responsibilities with the long-range plan, mission, vision and values of the hospital. Promotes a supportive environment that encourages collegiality. Computer processing of patient specimens before and after collection.

POSITION QUALIFICATION:

· High School Diploma or equivalent

· One year of previous experience preferred.

· Must be able to exhibit ability to collect samples from every age group with skill.

· Basic computer skills and communication ability needed.

REPORTS TO:

Laboratory Director and Laboratory Manager /or Phlebotomist Supervisor

DEGREE OF SUPERVISION:

Moderate, must be able to work somewhat independently.

Physical demands require performing all essential functions of this position as assigned. This position may require the use of personal protective equipment during various tasks/activities including but not limited to, back support belts, gloves, masks and safety glasses. Exposure Category I = Routinely have exposure to bloodborne pathogens

Exposure Category II = Occasionally have exposure to bloodborne pathogens

Exposure Category III = Rarely have exposure to bloodborne pathogens
