Pre-Admit Testing Nurse

Job Summary and Qualifications
The Pre-Admit Testing Nurse ensures that the patients are prepared and cleared for surgery via collection of patient information, communication with physician offices, completion of patient’s medical history, and assembling of the clinical record as well as other related activities. The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s mission/vision/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to the overall facility performance.
What you will do in this role:
- Performs patient pre-admission screening based on center policies and protocols. • Identifies patients who require further evaluation for appropriateness and escalates concerns to the responsible party.
- Performs pre-operative patient phone calls to collect pre-admission patient information and to provide appropriate pre-operative instructions to patients, including arrival times, NPO status, fall prevention strategies, and the need for a responsible adult to accompany the patient.
- Relays appropriate hand-off communication to RN staff to ensure continuity of care.
- Provides a safe and comforting environment for patients and family.
- Assesses patient’s understanding of procedure and checks surgical consent for accuracy and completeness. Obtains and witnesses patient’s signature as needed.
Qualifications you will need:
- Associate Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma or higher degree in Nursing Required
- 1+ years clinical experience in PreOp/PACU preferred
- Experience in Ambulatory Surgery preferred
- Active RN license as required by state of employment
- BCLS Certification upon employment. ***online certification not acceptable
- ACLS required within 30-days of hire
- PALS if required by facility within 30-days of hire
