Army Veteran Cenita Williamson Returns to GI Go Fund’s Newark Veterans Center to Lead Career Prep Workshop for Young Women

Veterans Center hosts Army Veteran Cenita Williamson to provide local young Black women with mentorship, professional development, and practical guidance

Army Veteran, entrepreneur, and career coach Cenita Williamson returned to the GI Go Fund Veterans Center in Newark on Thursday, June 11, to lead another career preparation and mentorship workshop for local young Black women.

The session continued a program Williamson previously brought to the Center, where she helped participants strengthen their professional skills, prepare for career opportunities, and build confidence as they take the next steps in their education and employment journeys. In a previous workshop held at the Center, Williamson led sessions focused on communication, mock interviews, professional presentation, and career pathways for young women preparing to enter or advance in the workforce.

During the most recent session, participants gathered around the conference table at the Newark Veterans Center for a guided discussion on career development, professional goals, and the practical steps needed to pursue new opportunities. The workshop created a supportive environment where young women could ask questions, receive guidance, and learn directly from a veteran leader with experience in workforce development and entrepreneurship.

For GI Go Fund, the event reflects the broader mission of the Newark Veterans Center: to serve as a community hub where veterans, families, and underserved residents can access training, mentorship, and resources that lead to greater economic independence. Since opening, the Center has hosted programs focused on employment, career readiness, entrepreneurship, technology training, and community support.

Williamson’s work also highlights the powerful role veterans continue to play as civic leaders after their military service. By using her experience to mentor the next generation, she is helping young women develop the tools, confidence, and direction needed to build stronger futures.

The GI Go Fund is proud to continue opening its doors to veteran-led programs that strengthen the Newark community and create pathways to opportunity.
