TINTON FALLS, NJ — Through GI Go Fund’s more than 10-year partnership with Soldier On and its Supportive Services for Veteran Families program, U.S. Army Veteran Stephen Greeley recently received a donated bicycle to help him with transportation to work and other daily needs.
Greeley, who lives at Soldier On’s Gordon Mansfield affordable housing project in Tinton Falls, received the bicycle through a connection made by GI Go Fund board member Sue Niederer, Gold Star mother of 2LT Seth Dvorin, whose service and sacrifice helped inspire the founding of GI Go Fund.
The bicycle was donated by New Jersey State Police Detective Sgt. Shawn Bracht. The effort was coordinated with support from Tracey Visalli, Soldier On SSVF Case Manager, and Joseph Bongon, GI Go Fund Veterans Assistance Manager.
For Greeley, the donation represents more than a bicycle. It provides reliable transportation that can help him get to work, attend appointments, and move around the community with greater independence.
The story reflects the practical, direct assistance that GI Go Fund and Soldier On have worked together to provide for veterans for more than a decade. Through Soldier On’s SSVF program and GI Go Fund’s veteran support services, the two organizations have helped veterans address real-life barriers to stability, including housing, employment, transportation, and access to essential resources.
“This is exactly what partnership looks like,” said Joseph Bongon. “A veteran had a transportation need, a donor stepped forward, and the people around him worked together to make sure that need was met. Sometimes the support that makes the biggest difference is very practical — helping someone get to work, stay connected, and keep moving forward.”
GI Go Fund’s work with Soldier On has long focused on helping veterans not only secure housing, but sustain it. By connecting veterans to employment support, case management, transportation assistance, and community resources, the partnership helps veterans build long-term stability and independence.
The bicycle donation to Stephen Greeley is one example of that mission in action — a community coming together to support a veteran with a simple but meaningful tool for daily life.
