As the first day of summer arrived, two organizations here at home chose to mark the occasion by remembering those who have given us the opportunity to enjoy the season.

The GI Go Fund teamed up with Premier Asphalt to deliver a dozen care packages to our soldiers in Iraq yesterday. The packages were sent to show our men and women our appreciation, as well as provide goods that our troops always enjoy.

“We’re all glad to help our soldiers,” said GI Go President Jack Fanous. “Our troops have always responded well to our care packages, telling us how much they use and all the different things we try to provide, things we here at home tend to take for granted.”

The care packages are part of G.I Go’s mission to provide transition assistance to our servicemen and women. The primary purpose of these packages is to give our neighbors fighting across the world that feeling of home they need from time to time.
