Steps for Vets fundraising drive surpasses $100,000 in 2018

Carl Sandburg Middle School's annual walk benefiting GI Go Fund surpasses incredible milestone in support of military families

Students at the Carl Sandburg Middle School in Old Bridge participate in the Steps for Vets program in honor of Memorial Day. The students broke records in fundraising by collecting over $12,000 for military veterans.

OLD BRIDGE, NJ)—GI Go Fund were once again the beneficiary of the great generosity of Carl Sandburg Middle School, who honored our military men and women this past Memorial Day by raising more than $12,000 for veterans in the community during the "Steps for Vets" fundraising drive.

This year's drive marked an incredible milestone, as it has taken the Steps for Vets fundraising program past $100,000 raised in support of military families.

Hundreds of the middle school’s students participated in the walk-a-thon event where they collected donations from family members and neighbors to help support veterans returning from combat.

Proceeds raised during the event benefited GI Go Fund, a national nonprofit organization that helps veterans find employment and secure their education and health care benefits, and provides assistance to low income and homeless veterans.

GI Go Fund would like to thank Carl Sandburg Principal Dr. Martha Simon, Mr. Chris LoNigro, Mr. Gary Sapir, and all the students, faculty, and administrators that made this “Steps For Vets” drive a huge success.
