NEWARK, NJ - To help New Jersey Veterans struggling with financial troubles this holiday season, The GI Go Fund provided $50 shopping cards to veterans and their families to pay for their Thanksgiving dinner. Over 120 veterans from all across the state of New Jersey currently suffering financial hardships were given the chance to purchase turkeys and all other essential thanksgiving provisions from their local Foodtown Supermarket so that they could provide their loved ones a great Thanksgiving meal.

The grocery cards were provided through generous donations from Gore Financial LCC, ZBRELLA Inc., and Foodtown Supermarkets of over $6,000. Many New Jersey Veterans struggle every day with financial difficulties.

With the rate of veterans’ unemployment above 12%, including an astonishing 30% rate for those under the age 25, more and more veterans are finding it difficult to provide for their families during this Thanksgiving season.

“Too many of our veterans are going to struggle to provide their families this Thanksgiving,” said GI Go Fund Executive Director Jack Fanous. “Many people are hurting this holiday season, but it is our veterans, the men and women who risked their lives by volunteering to protect us, that are feeling the most pain. We wanted to make sure that veterans coming home from war are provided the opportunity to give their families a great Thanksgiving dinner.”
