The GI Go Fund to be featured on Season Premiere of ABC’s “Secret Millionaire”
This episode will follow millionaire and world-renowned artist Scott Jacobs and his 18-year-old daughter, Alexa, as they spend six days in Newark, to search for those most in need of financial help.
NEWARK, NJ - The GI Go Fund is proud to announce that they will have their efforts highlighted on the season premiere of ABC’s “Secret Millionaire” on June 3rd at 8pm ET. The show will follow members of the organization as they assist veterans in Newark, NJ.
“Secret Millionaire” follows a few of America’s most successful business people for one week as they leave behind their lavish lifestyles, sprawling mansions and luxury jets, conceal their true identities, and go to live and volunteer in some of the most impoverished and dangerous neighborhoods in the country. Surviving on welfare wages, their mission is to discover the most deserving individuals who continually sacrifice everything to help those in need, and ultimately encourage others to do the same.
This episode will follow millionaire and world-renowned artist Scott Jacobs and his 18-year-old daughter, Alexa, leave behind their family and lavish lifestyle in San Diego to spend six days in Newark, to search for those most in need of financial help.
The first episode of the season will follow the GI Go Fund, an organization founded in 2006 in honor of Lt. Seth Dvorin, a friend of the group’s co-founders who was killed in Iraq. The organization works to assist veterans upon their return by providing them help finding employment and educational opportunities, connections to critical health and financial benefits, and aid and assistance to low income and homeless veterans.
In addition to their other programs, the GI Go Fund began working in Newark in 2008 through a partnership with Newark Mayor Cory A. Booker. Since then, the group has helped hundreds of Newark veterans with their various needs as they work to make a successful transition home from combat.
"While we are proud of this accomplishment, we would be foolish to think this honor was bestowed upon us alone," said GI Go Executive Director Jack Fanous in an email to supporters and volunteers. "We know that the GI Go Fund has been built with the commitment and dedication of supporters like you. Every person that has participated in our Job Fairs, handed out clothes at a Homeless Veterans Stand Down, or worked with us in our offices has helped create here in New Jersey the country's most committed veteran support community, and is the only reason for our success."
Be sure to tune in to ABC on June 3rd at 8pm ET to see the Season Premiere of Secret Millionaire!
