TASK FORCE: Environmental Sustainability and Resiliency UNIT: Budget JOB TITLE: One (1) Undergraduate/Graduate College AideCONTROL CODE: ESR-27-02 SUMMARY:The Mayors Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is the City government's chief financial agency. OMB's staff of analysts and experts assembles and oversees the Mayors expense and capital budgets, which fund the services and activities of approximately 90 City agencies and entities.The OMB Environmental Sustainability and Resiliency (ESR) task force helps fulfilling this mission by integrating climate change mitigation and resiliency into the city's financial planning to address current and future climate risks. The ESR Task Force analyzes and tracks citywide sustainability and resiliency funding and supports agencies and other OMB units in the formulation, design, and evaluation of policies and investments. Within ESR, the Budget Unit assesses the alignment of the Citys investments with its climate goals and helps oversee the budget for the Mayors Office of Climate and Environmental Justice.The intern will assist ESRs Budget Unit by becoming familiar with the New York City budget process in order to build capacity for budgetary review to identify potential opportunities for investment and to make recommendations on how to continue to incorporate sustainability, resiliency, and environmental justice work in NYCs Climate Budgeting process. JOB DESCRIPTION:The undergraduate/graduate intern will contribute to assessing the climate impacts of the Citys capital and expense budgets used to inform the fourth annual NYC Climate Budgeting publication, to be published in May 2027. The intern will also assist in preparing for the publication in capacities including, but not limited to: data cleaning, copy editing, and designing the publication. The undergraduate/graduate intern will learn about the City's budget process and expand the OMB ESR task forces ability to evaluate budget decisions through this lens to achieve the goals of: - Understanding the impacts of city investments on sustainability and resiliency - Expanding tracking and reporting of sustainability and resiliency spending - Assessing new sustainability and resiliency proposals to inform recommendations for internal stakeholders MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:Candidates must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in an accredited college or university.Preferred Skills:- Excellent research and analytical skills. - Ability to work effectively on multiple projects simultaneously.- Ability to aggregate and synthesize information to create a clear and cohesive deliverable. - Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally. - Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and data visualization skills. - Interest in, and knowledge about, NYC climate change programmatic and policy efforts; educational or professional experience in this area is a plus. - Interest in, and knowledge about, NYC government; educational or professional experience in this area is a plus. - Ability to learn quickly, understand the perspectives of multiple stakeholders, and approach challenges with creativity and objectivity - Works well with others in a team setting.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Compensation/Duration: Undergraduate College Aide $17.50 per hour Graduate College Aide $20 per hour The internship is available during the fall and spring semesters of the 2026 to 2027 school year. The internship will be part-time, with a maximum of 17 hours per week when school is in session. The schedule will be worked out with the selected candidate based on availability. The work must be done during the regular workday, between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. no evenings or weekends. Requirements

For Assignment Level I: Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school. For Assignment Level II (Information Technology): Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or closely related field, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study. For Assignment Level III (Information Technology Fellow): Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or other area relevant to the information technology project(s) assigned, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study. Appointments to this Assignment Level will be made by the Technology Steering Committee through the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications. SPECIAL NOTE Maximum tenure for all Assignment Levels in the title of College Aide is 6 years. No student shall be employed more than half-time in any week in which classes in which the student is enrolled are in session. Students may be employed full-time during their vacation periods.
